Connect: Beginning where you are
Connect is the first phase of Living Connected. It carries the grounding energy of Earth and invites us to arrive within ourselves before deciding what needs to change.

Every Day Nourishment
Nourishment is at the heart of the Earth element. In Chinese medicine, the Spleen and Stomach help us receive food and transform it into something the body can use. These organ names describe a broader system of functions, including digestion and the distribution of nourishment.

Seasonal Living
In Chinese medicine, Late Summer belongs to the Earth element, the season of ripening and gathering. Gardens offer their harvest, the light begins to shift, and we have an opportunity to recognize what has grown in our own lives. Earth teaches us to receive nourishment and give it a useful place within us.

Wake the Center
Your abdomen is a center of nourishment and transformation. It is also a place where you may hold tension without realizing it. Morning self-massage offers a few quiet minutes to soften through the belly and care for this part of yourself before the day begins.

Wuji: Finding Center
Wuji is the foundational posture we return to throughout Qi Gong. It gives us a balanced place to begin movement, pause between exercises, and settle at the end of practice. Through small adjustments, we learn to feel supported while releasing unnecessary effort.

Opening Through your Hips
Wuji gives us a place to settle. Opening the kua helps us carry that steadiness into movement.
The kua is the area of the deep hip folds where the legs meet the pelvis. Learning to soften here allows the pelvis to move more freely over the legs, helping us bend and shift our weight with less unnecessary effort.

Lower Belly Breathing Lesson
The Lower Dantien is a center we return to throughout qigong. Located deep within the lower abdomen, below the navel, its name means “elixir field.” In the traditional teaching, it is a reservoir where we gather and cultivate vitality Qi. Bringing breath and attention into this region helps us develop a familiar sense of center that carries into movement and meditation.

Breathing Meditation: Dantien Activation
This seated practice builds on Lower Dantien Breathing. In the Qi Gong tradition, activation helps cultivate and gather Qi in the lower abdomen. The outward breath carries the intention of releasing stagnation, while attention returns inward to nourish your center.

Inner Smile
The Inner Smile is a Daoist meditation that brings warmth and appreciation into your relationship with your body. You offer yourself the quality of attention you might offer someone you deeply love.
Many of us notice our bodies most when something needs attention. This practice gives appreciation a place in that relationship, too. A small smile helps express an inward message: I am here with you. Your life matters to me.

Fall- Release Introduction
As the days shorten and the leaves begin to fall, nature offers us a rhythm to explore in our own lives. We turn inward, gather our energy, and notice what matters most. We carry the grounding and trust we explored in our Connect phase into this next season: Release.

Living with Fall
Fall invites us to notice what is changing around us and within us. The light shifts, the air may grow cooler or drier, and our needs may change with the season. Begin by noticing the Fall where you live and how you are responding to it.

Grief, Courage, and the Art of Release
Grief can arise whenever something meaningful changes: a relationship, a role, our health, or a future we imagined. In Chinese Medicine, fall and the Metal element invite us to recognize what matters, honor what we miss, and explore what we’re ready to release.
